Services Available

The Villa
The Home counts on a private, diversified and highly qualified technical team, incorporating doctors, nurses, a social worker, a psychologist, physiotherapists, a nutritionist, an occupational therapist and an entertainer, to assure the provision of social and health care, according to the profile of the users, in order to make possible a quick return to the family environment, when health conditions so allow. A religious service is provided in the ecumenical room.

The team will at all times be evaluated for friendliness, affection, availability and performance in the light of the ULDM's mission and objectives, therefore those of the team. The evaluation consists of both internal and external audits, through the ECL and ECR of the Algarve's ARS, to assure the quality of the services provided.

Hygiene and maintenance

This is assured on a daily basis, and whenever necessary, for all bedrooms, common and service spaces, and laundry. The Institution has celebrated a hospital hazardous waste management contract for classes III and IV with the Hospital Common Use Facilities. The quality and accuracy of the maintenance team assure an adequate performance of the equipment and systems.

Health and well-being

The above mentioned multidisciplinary technical team will assure the health, well-being and comfort of the Home users.

General medical assistance is assured through routine medical visits, under the supervision of the Clinical Director, who will refer the users to auxiliary diagnostic tests or to specialists, when required. The Home has a permanent nursing service. Group gymnastics and physiotherapy sessions are provided, taking into account the user's health status. If the doctor so recommends, the user will have access to specific physiotherapy care, consultations by specialists, diagnostic tests and any other type of care appropriate to the user's health status and at his/her own expense.

The commitment of the psychologist, the social worker and the occupational therapist contributes to the comfort of the users and complement the health care provided.

Food and meals

The quality of the food provided is specified and controlled by the nutritionist, who diversifies it according to the characteristics and health status of each user. We serve five daily meals, to which personal supplements required by the users may be added, under the supervision of the Clinical Director.


We want users to enjoy a comfortable life at the Home, through harmonious integration in the broader group of users. The users' daily activities, depending on their health status and health care individual plan, are programmed and accompanied by the psychologist, the occupational therapist and the entertainer. They include excursions, cultural visits, parties and other activities, such as gardening, games, painting, poetry, drama. These activities are intended to keep the users comfortable, healthy and cheerful and fully integrated in their "new family".


The Home has a wheelchair elevator-equipped vehicle to carry users comfortably and safely for rides and outdoor activities.
